The 10 Millionth Article was written on Wikipedia on March 28th 2008. The article was a Hungarian biography of a 16th Century painter called Nicholas Hilliard.

On the 10th of September 2007, the 2 millionth English article was written. I wrote a blog post about it, Wikipedia: 2 Million Articles, and was wondering when the 10 millionth would be written. Well I guess here is my answer.

It is really great to see how the world has embraced Wikipedia, and how quickly it has become such an important source of information.

Wikipedia, the online free-to-edit encyclopedia, had its 2 millionth English language article written on the 10^th of September 2007. 

The article was written on a Spanish television program called El Hormiguero.

Wikipedia was founded in 2001 by Jimmy Wales, and has about 3.4 million volunteer contributors. What an awesome achievement in a short period of time.  I wonder when the 3 millionth or even the 10 millionth will be published - any ideas?
