As mentioned in my previous post, CeBIT Day 1, I met Jason Calacanis and Tyler Crowley at CeBIT and they invited me to their hotel for a bloggers breakfast.
It was incredible to be invited to the breakfast.
The breakfast was a very casual event where we just chilled, socialized, networked and learned about each other. Jason was also streaming live on his UStream. We took some great videos and I will post those up in separate posts.

I arrived nice and early, and spent most of the morning at the breakfast. It was a really great experience, with so much knowledge sharing and lots of fun.

I was lucky to be asked to speak at the ACS@Skills Alley at CeBIT
My presentation was about being an entrepreneur, and how to get started as an entrepreneur. I covered a variety of areas from the startup roadmap, to social media and networking and personal branding.
The talk was really great and I really enjoyed passing on the knowledge. The audience response was great and there were some really great questions and discussions after the event.

On Tuesday 20th May till Thursday 22nd May, CeBIT Australia will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhition Center.
CeBIT Australia is Australasias leading Information & Communications Technology (ICT) event for the business marketplace and covers all areas of IT including software & services, hardware, VOPI, IP Comms. The event is targeted at C-level executives, and other IT professionals. CeBIT Australia is a combination of a trade show and a conference.
In 2007, over the 3 day event, there were 33041 visitors and it has been growing each year.
I have been asked to speak at the Australian Computer Society (ACS) Skills Alley - branded ACS@Skills Alley at CeBIT 2008.
I am really looking forward to my presentation. My presentation is titled “Be an Entrepreneur”.
I will be presenting about entrepreneurs, how to bring out the entrepreneur inside you, and the roadmap to starting a business. I will also be covering the best way to use social media and web 2.0 to network, increase your personal branding and develop your business or start-up.
The talk is going to be great and I hope the attendees will gain a lot and learn valuable information.

Earlier this week I presented at the Australian Business Week National Awards lunch.
I presented about my experiences participating in Australian Business Week, and how I have used the skills learned develop my career path.
The presentation went really well and the response was great.

I have been asked to speak at the Australian Business Week (ABW) National Awards ceremony which is on Monday 12th May.
The Australian Business Week competition was formed in 1992, with the aim of creating a way for the business community to help the younger generation in appreciating business. The week involves groups of students running a simulated business, each assuming an executive role, having guest speakers, and also creating and marketing a product they have created.
Australian Busniess Week is now run in many schools throughout Australia and thousands of students each year participate.
The National Awards is a ceremony to congratulate those that have shown great ability in the way they have run their business throughout the week.
My talk will be about my experiences of Australian Business Week quite some time ago, and how that has benefited me in the years since and how it has had a great impact on my business career and entrepreneurial determination.
I am really looking forward to speaking at the awards.

I read an article today on the Ninemsn Money Website called, ‘Are you addicted to your Blackberry?’
The article definitely criticises society’s addiction to what has been termed a ‘CrackBerry’. It lists the many ways that the BlackBerry addiction has ‘interfered’ and changed our lives.
The BlackBerry is just one of the many pieces of technology that we are now fortunate enough to have that enhance our ‘Connected’ lives. They have allowed us to take that step forward in being always connected.
Now don’t get me wrong, I agree that if it gets to the stage that you are interrupting social arrangements, meals and discussions to respond to your email, or any of the other definitions of why you would be addicted in the article, then you have taken it a bit far.
But look at the benefits. Productivity has increased allowing business to be conducted away from the office, people can find information on the go, search for directions when they are lost, and are freer if anything to go out, because they don’t have to sit at their computer all day waiting for that one email that requires an immediate response.
I think rather than criticizing the huge amount of people that are using BlackBerry’s and the amount of time spent on them, we should be encouraging people to embrace the technology. All too often we hear of people complain that Generation Y and young children spend too much time sitting in front of the computer. Enabling mobile devices with internet connection removes this desire to sit in front of the computer all day long. It encourages people to leave the screen and head outside, go for a walk and socialise with others.
The article is very interesting, and has lots of information for both points of view, but I think we all know that the technology is here to stay and will continue to improve.
So if you are addicted to your BlackBerry, make sure you try control it in some ways and set your self some rules or boundaries such as:
• Don’t respond to emails during conversations with people or at meals unless it is necessary or urgent
• Draw a line between what is family & friends time and what is BlackBerry time
• Every once and a while, leave it at home when you go out.
Remember, if you didn’t have it people would have to wait for you to get home to your computer to respond to an email, so just because you have a BlackBerry, doesn’t mean you have to get to that email straight away.
I am 100% in favour of BlackBerry’s and think they are a really great invention. But like anything else, remember to use them in moderation.
