This is the exact reason why I don't have a blackberry. I have purposely not set up the e-mail feature on my iTouch for that distinct reason. I don't want to "always be available" to someone...and then have them come back to me and say..."Did you get my e-mail?"...and then have to tell them "No I was ignoring my iTouch on purpose." I think the reason blackberries and smart phones are so addicting is because when you get a message you get the same "addicting" feeling when someone passes a note to you and you can't open it right there...The blackberry just makes that whole "addiction medicine" a lot worse. Recently after reading some of Tim Ferris's book "The Four Hour Work Week" I have turned my e-mail off of automatic receive...and because of it have become far more productive! I am not always worried about what and when people send me something because I control when I want to respond to messages, and when I want to focus on what I am working on...e-mail has become less of a "distraction" now...and because I have done this I can be more efficient when it comes to receiving and replying to e-mail!
