It is a great phone - having used a friend of mine's. However, I agree wtih Joe that it's probably not deserving of "Invention of the Year", unless it has also found a cure for cancer.

On another note - companies that usually expand beyond their already monopolised markets have become "anti-competitive". Apple, though with all good intentions of "conquering the world" may be forced to open up their magical software interface to 3rd-party developers if it is forced, through the courts, to abandon its monopoly over anything that is technologically beautiful. Microsoft is the perfect comparison...

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree. I'm a huge Apple fan, and I'm about to get my own iPhone. But is an electronic gadget like the iPhone a legitimate competitor to great inventions that are able to save lives, that will cure diseases or help people in different ways? Sorry, fans, but that's not what iPhone is about! iPhone is just an electronic gadget, nothing more and nothing less. A really fascinating one, yes! I'm looking absolutely forward to owning my own! But, in my opion, it doesn't deserve the "Invention Of The Year" Award.
Sorry, guys...

...and greets from Germany
